About the Role 

Join a dynamic team shaping resilient communities across NSW through strategic land use planning. This senior role leads multidisciplinary projects and provides expert advice to support disaster risk mitigation, recovery, and long-term resilience.  

  • Provide expert advice on complex statutory planning matters to support disaster adaptation, mitigation, and recovery. 

  • Lead multidisciplinary projects and initiatives that enhance planning frameworks for disaster risk reduction. This includes ensuring timely delivery of project outcomes through strong planning, reporting, and oversight. 

  • Deliver high-quality analysis and recommendations on rezoning, declared disaster areas, and planning proposals. 

  • Develop and review state environmental planning policies and contribute to legislative improvements. 

  • Manage stakeholder consultations and negotiate planning outcomes across jurisdictions and sectors. 

 

 

About You 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statutory planning with experience leading complex, multidisciplinary projects. They’ll be organised and proactive with a committed work ethic to deliver high-quality outcomes within deadlines. 

  • Skills in delivering well-reasoned advice that withstands legal or policy scrutiny. 

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on disaster resilience in planning contexts. 

  • Experience in policy development, planning instruments, and navigating government planning systems. 

 

Essential Requirements  

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in statutory planning or town planning.

About the Agency  
The NSW Reconstruction Authority is a statutory corporation and executive agency of the Premier’s Department, that will improve how NSW plans for disasters and ensure that we recover from them faster. 

To reduce the severity and impacts of disasters, the NSW Reconstruction Authority will complete critical planning and preparation with communities, businesses and government. When disaster does strike, we will get recovery started swiftly and coordinate reconstruction efforts across agencies, communities and other stakeholders.
