  • Salary: Clerk Grade 7/8 - $113,574 - 125,720 pa
    (plus employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading)

Your role

Want a media role that goes beyond business-as-usual?

As a Media Advisor at Multicultural NSW, you’ll help shape how NSW’s cultural, linguistic and religious diversity is represented across mainstream and multicultural media.

 

You’ll work in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment providing trusted media advice, managing sensitive issues, and supporting storytelling that reaches communities across the state. This role is ideal for a media professional who enjoys variety, impact, and working with purpose.

 

What you’ll do

In this role, you will:

  • Write and deliver media releases, statements and briefings aligned to strategic priorities
  • Manage media enquiries and issues, including sensitive and time-critical matters
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mainstream and multicultural media outlets
  • Monitor daily media coverage and prepare media reports and insights
  • Maintain a forward media calendar of story opportunities
  • Provide clear, practical media advice to senior stakeholders and executives
  • Support broader communications and engagement initiatives as required

 

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a confident media professional who can think on their feet and communicate with impact.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in media, journalism, public relations or communications
  • Strong writing skills and sound judgement in issues management
  • Experience dealing directly with journalists and media outlets
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and handling sensitive information
  • An interest in current affairs, government and multicultural communities
  • The ability to work calmly under pressure and manage competing priorities

Experience working with multicultural or community media is highly regarded but not essential.
