Location - Parramatta/Hybrid working (or another DCJ office location, with some self-funded travel to Parramatta required).

Employment type - Temporary full-time role up to 30 June 2028

Salary - $149,739.00 pa - $173,174.00 pa, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

 

 

About the role

 

The Manager, Standardised Evaluation Analysis (StEvAn) will oversee and manage the delivery of the StEvAn on behalf of the NSW Government.

 

Part of the NSW Government Actuary, the StEvAn is the NSW Government’s sophisticated and innovative new approach to human services evaluation to build the evidence base for what works.

 

What you’ll do

 

The successful candidate will be required to manage the StEvAn team and overarching project to deliver  outcome evaluation result for a variety of programs and initiatives.  It will require a combination of technical skills in evaluation along with superior project management skills. Familiarity with Python and database design is important as this role will require the ability to span the full spectrum of the standardised evaluation process from conventional outcome evaluation design, database management through to overseeing the implementation of the analysis software code which has been designed in house.

 

The role is responsible for overseeing outcome evaluation design, data analysis, and reporting, ensuring methodological rigour, data integrity, and alignment with governance and strategic priorities. It provides expert advice to senior stakeholders, translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights.

 

The Manager also leads and develops a technically-diverse team of analysts, driving best practice, continuous improvement, and a collaborative, high-performing culture while working closely with stakeholders to strengthen evaluation capability and outcomes.

 

The role has a whole-of-government remit. It is part of the NSW Government Actuary, a specialist team of about 30 analysts and evaluation professionals.

 

What we’re looking for

 

In addition to the essential requirements outlined in the role description, the ideal candidate for the Manager, Standardised Evaluation Analysis role will bring a strong blend of technical expertise, project management, strategic thinking, and people leadership.

 

They will demonstrate intermediate to advanced capability in Python programming and database design, with a proven ability to develop, manage, and optimise evaluation frameworks and analytical pipelines. The candidate will have experience in evaluation design, including defining metrics, ensuring methodological rigour, and translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.

 

The ideal candidate will be capable of leading multiple workstreams, setting clear priorities, managing risks, and delivering outcomes within agreed timeframes. They will be comfortable working in complex environments, balancing competing demands while maintaining a strong focus on quality, consistency, and governance.

 

As a people leader, they will foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture. They will be skilled at mentoring and developing staff, promoting best practice, and driving continuous improvement in analytical capability and processes.

 

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential. The candidate will be able to confidently present findings, influence decision-making, and build productive relationships across technical and non-technical audiences.

 

Above all, the ideal candidate will be self-motivated, outcomes-focused, and committed to continuous improvement, with a strong sense of accountability and a passion for using data and evaluation to support evidence-based decision-making.
