As Manager, Safety & Wellbeing, you will be a trusted senior leader responsible for shaping how safety, wellbeing and psychosocial health are embedded across the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ). Sitting within the People Branch of DCJ Corporate Services, this role plays a critical part in protecting our people while enabling the organisation to deliver for the communities of NSW.

 

You will provide strategic leadership across workplace health and safety, guiding a high‑performing team to deliver contemporary, evidence‑based solutions that prevent harm, strengthen leadership capability and enhance employee experience. Working in close partnership with executives, leaders and stakeholders across DCJ, you will translate policy and legislation into practical, sustainable outcomes, balancing strong governance with care and compassion.

 

What You’ll Bring

 

You are a credible and influential safety leader with the confidence to operate at senior levels and the agility to lead in a large, complex and fast‑paced environment. With deep expertise in WHS legislation and psychosocial risk, you will partner with the business to:

 

  • Drive a proactive, inclusive and psychologically safe culture across DCJ
  • Provide authoritative, contemporary and pragmatic safety and wellbeing advice
  • Lead the management of complex and sensitive safety matters with sound judgement
  • Deliver measurable improvements in safety outcomes, capability and employee experience
  • Lead, develop and empower a skilled multidisciplinary team
