Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Appellate Attorney to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate will have strong research and writing abilities, demonstrated experience handling appeals, and a passion for crafting persuasive legal arguments. This role will focus on appellate work in state and federal courts, primarily in the context of insurance defense litigation.  While the focus will be appellate matters in state and federal courts, the right candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to trial-level motions and other aspects of our defense practice. 

Responsibilities:

  • Draft appellate briefs, motions, and other legal memoranda.
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis on complex issues.
  • Present oral arguments before appellate courts as needed.
  • Partner with trial attorneys to preserve issues for appeal and shape case strategy.
  • Contribute to trial-level work, including dispositive motions and complex briefing.
  • Stay current on developments in insurance defense and appellate practice.

Requirements

 Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Louisiana State Bar and in good standing.
  • 5-10 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, including trial experience.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  •  Exceptional writing and oral advocacy skills. 
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  •  Enthusiasm for handling both appellate and non-appellate matters.
