ABOUT THE ROLE
The Technical Print and Prepress Manager is responsible for managing the Digital Print and Prepress departments. This position manages a team that contributes to manufacturing objectives for quality, productivity, and service with a goal to produce products in the most cost-effective manner within quality standards for optimal customer satisfaction.
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of prepress procedures, color management, digital printing technology, and proficiency with software to produce accurate, high-quality printed materials. Must have good communication skills, strong follow-up, the ability to write well, and good internal and external negotiating skills are all important for this job.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Management Accountabilities:
- Works with other production department managers to keep print jobs moving and on time through the production process.
- Works with the Estimating, Project Management, and Sales teams to provide any information or assistance needed to plan and execute customer expectations for the final product produced.
- Works with Proofing and Plating Operators to share technical information, troubleshoot problems, and keep up with continuously changing Prepress software and technologies.
- Monitors supply levels of Prepress consumables and works with vendors to refill supplies.
- Assists all Plating and Proofing Operators with technical issues and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoots hardware and software issues and manages repairs or technical support.
- Monitors all backups to ensure proper data redundancy.
- Works with Quality Assurance to ensure that quality products are produced on a consistent basis.
- Incorporates DCG ONE's vision and values into day-to-day activities and behaviors.
- Adheres to all facets of safety policies and procedures.
- Provides direction, development, and leadership to the department, including performance reviews and collaboration with the HR department regarding disciplinary and compliance enforcement.
Technical Responsibilities:
- File Preparation and Management:
- Prepares digital files for printing, including file conversion, color correction, and ensuring all files meet print specifications.
- Checks files for errors, such as font issues, image resolution, and file formatting.
- Manages digital assets, ensuring proper file naming, version control, and storage.
- Prepress Procedures:
- Performs pre-flight checks to ensure files are print-ready.
- Creates and manipulates impositions for various print layouts.
- Calibrates and maintains digital printing equipment to ensure consistent quality.
- Color Management:
- Implements and manages color profiles to ensure accurate color reproduction.
- Conducts color proofing and makes necessary adjustments to achieve desired results.
- Maintains color consistency across different print runs and materials.
- Technical Troubleshooting:
- Diagnoses and resolves technical issues related to digital files, software, and printing equipment.
- Works with vendors and service providers to address technical problems and maintain equipment.
- Quality Control:
- Conducts thorough quality checks on printed materials to ensure they meet the required standards.
- Identifies and rectifies any print defects, such as color inconsistencies, misregistration, and other printing errors.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborates with graphic designers, clients, and production teams to ensure files are correctly prepared and meet project requirements.
- Communicates technical requirements and provide guidance on best practices for file preparation.
- Software Proficiency:
- Utilizes various prepress and printing software, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), RIP software, and other industry-specific applications.
- Stays updated on software updates and industry trends to improve efficiency and output quality.
- Workflow Automation:
- Develops and implements automated workflows to streamline the prepress and printing processes.
- Uses scripting and automation tools to reduce manual tasks, minimize errors, and increase production speed.
- Continuously evaluates and optimizes automated processes to ensure maximum efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Printing & Graphic Arts preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Prepress management.
- Experienced in Kaizen, ISO 9001 policies and procedures preferred.
- This position manages all employees of the Prepress and Digital Print departments and is responsible for the workflow, scheduling, performance, management, and hiring of all employees within that department.
- May be required to complete and pass a Public Trust Security Clearance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is predominantly held in a clerical environment but will need to work also on the production floor in an industrial warehouse setting.
- This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
