GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Director of Marketing provides leadership and strategic support to ensure the success of the agency’s marketing and communications initiatives. Working closely with the Director of Marketing and the CAO, this role manages day-to-day operations of the marketing team, drives creative strategy, and ensures cohesive messaging across all channels. The Assistant Director also contributes to high-level planning and analytics to strengthen community awareness, donor engagement, and brand presence.

 

ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse 
cases in Dallas County. We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members. 

We are a national and international leader in the Children's Advocacy Center movement, recognized 
for our expertise in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases; cutting edge clinical services and programs for the victims and their non-offending family members; and our community and professional training programs.

 

Staff Supervision: Marketing Coordinators and Marketing Specialists

 

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategic Planning & Oversight

Collaborate with the Director of Marketing to plan and execute annual marketing strategies.
Lead development and implementation of multi-channel campaigns that align with fundraising goals.
Use analytics and data insights to guide decision-making and measure impact.

 

Team Leadership & Management

Supervise, coach, and evaluate the marketing staff (Specialist and Coordinator).
Manage workflow, project assignments, and deadlines.
Provide feedback, training, and mentorship to strengthen team performance.

 

Brand Management & Content Strategy

Uphold and refine DCAC’s brand standards and messaging.
Oversee creation of key collateral (annual report, digital campaigns, video storytelling, etc.).
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure message alignment and visibility.

 

Public Relations & Media

Assist the Director of Marketing and CAO with PR strategy, media outreach, and press materials.
Serve as a secondary spokesperson as needed.

 

Event & Campaign Support

Partner with Development team to plan and execute marketing strategies for fundraising events.

 

Other Duties:

Attends and participates in agency staff meetings, special events, etc.
Attends and participates in department and direct supervisory meetings.
Attends DCAC events as well as third-party events, which may occur in the evening and some weekends.
Other duties as assigned.  

QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 

Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of experience working in marketing, communications, or agency related field, with a minimum of two (2) years of supervision/leadership experience. Required Software: Advanced working experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, and email marketing platforms.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles, practices and terminology of advertising, marketing and public relations programs.
Skilled in copywriting based off content and facts provided with ability to communicate clearly and persuasively,
Skilled at increasing audience engagement and traffic across all digital platforms creating SEO (search engine optimization) marketing strategies,
Ability to maintain confidentiality with client stories,
Advanced professional writing and content creation experience, with portfolio of work created in current or previous positions,
Ability to think critically and be a self-starter and work proactively to identify key business priorities and work across teams to implement solutions.
Strong organizational skills, written and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

Work Location: All work must be performed in the office. Remote work permitted up to two days per week after 90 days of employment and with Chief approval.

 

Mental and Physical Abilities: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs). 

Working Conditions: Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment. There will be some events that require support and attendance in the evening and/or on a weekend offsite.
