Department Specific Job Details:
The PCA II delivers basic patient care, provides comfort measures, maintains patient care environment, and reports patient responses to nursing interventions. The PCA II is a member of the Collaborative Practice team and renders care in accordance with the Standards of Care and Standards of Practice. It is essential that all nursing tasks performed by trained unlicensed assistive personnel be done under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The delegating licensed nurse retains accountability for the delegation and the outcome of the task (Ohio Revised Code -- ORC, Section 4723.28) The PCA II is responsible for the accurate entering of physician orders into the appropriate computer systems and communication of orders to other Dayton Children's departments. The PCA II collaborates with the charge nurse or relief charge nurse to facilitate coordination of activities on the unit. The PCA II interfaces with and maintains open communication with nursing, physician, and other hospital departments. REQUIRED: High school diploma/GED, current CPR certification, PCA training or actively enrolled in a health care related education program, communications skills and customer service skills required.
