A Contract Administrator manages the entire contract lifecycle, from drafting and negotiating terms to ensuring compliance and maintaining records, focusing on minimizing risk and meeting business goals for sales, purchases, and partnerships, requiring strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills, often with a business or legal degree. They work with various teams, analyze risks, explain contract details, and monitor adherence to legal requirements and company policies. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting & Review: Prepare and review contracts (sales, purchase, service) for clarity, accuracy, and legal compliance. 
  • Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions with internal stakeholders and external parties. 
  • Risk Management: Analyze potential risks and ensure contracts align with business objectives. 
  • Compliance: Ensure all contracts adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. 
  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized and updated contract records. 
  • Stakeholder Communication: Explain contract terms to managers and other interested parties. 
  • Monitoring: Track deadlines, deliverables, and renewals. 

Daily Activities

  • Receiving requests for contract drafting from different departments (sales, legal, IT).
  • Preparing contract drafts using standard templates.
  • Liaising with external organizations and internal teams.
  • Managing contract workflows and ensuring smooth execution.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical thinking, attention to detail, organization, and time management. 
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office and contract management software. 
  • Knowledge: Understanding of contract law and business financial practices. 
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, law, or a related field is often required, with an MBA sometimes preferred.
