About this role

Cloud Cost Management (CCM) provides insights for engineering and finance teams to understand how infrastructure changes impact costs, allocate spend across your organization, and identify inefficiencies. Our tools are used to reign in costs and ensure that cloud spend dollars are not wasted. The Commitment Programs team on CCM builds tools and automations for customers to make the best use of savings plans, reserved instances, and other commitments and discounts from cloud providers. These tools allow less mature customers to adopt sophisticated FinOps practices to reduce unnecessary costs.

Building and maintaining these tools requires deep knowledge of the programs available, which can vary significantly between cloud providers. By tapping into Datadog’s customer telemetry and observability data in addition to their cloud billing data, we can identify the optimal commitments to make for the greatest discounts. In this role, you’ll have direct influence on the product roadmap and prioritization of new features.

We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who cares about technical excellence, enabling customer success, and the professional development of engineers on the team.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

  • Drive the technical direction of the Commitment Programs product, setting a high quality standard and investing for future development

  • Own technical and product outcomes, including code quality, system SLAs/SLOs, and user experience through goal setting, design collaboration, code reviews, and contributing code directly

  • Identify strengths and development areas for Engineers on the team to help them grow in their careers

  • Work with other managers in the CCM group to foster a culture of ownership, independence, and accountability

Who You Are:

  • An experienced (2+ years) Engineering Manager with a history of shipping quickly while maintaining a high quality standard, driving impact for customers

  • An empathetic leader who builds high-performing teams through a human-first approach to management

  • The ability to “elevation-shift” from high-level customer-focused product roadmapping to deep technical implementation conversations
