About this role

Overview

Assumes responsibility for the routine maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Waste Collection Program and provides support for additional hazardous waste collection activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily support for the Hazardous Waste Collection and Control Program with special emphasis on the Pharmaceutical Waste Collection Program, which includes; inspection, collection, and replacement of waste pharmaceutical collection containers.
  • Supports Hazardous Waste collection activities at offsite locations.
  • Communicates inspection deficiencies and programmatic issues related to hazardous and pharmaceutical waste for corrective action.
  • Assists in staff education regarding proper characterization, segregation, and disposal of hazardous and pharmaceutical waste.
  • Assists with The Joint Commission Environment of Care, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) applicable regulations, standards and policies.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Qualifications

    • Associates degree in Environmental Health, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology, or related field required or equivalent work experience.
    • Background in health care and knowledge of hazardous substance evaluation and control and hazardous waste management is highly desirable.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of computer software applications including spreadsheets.
    • Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation regulations is desirable.
