About this role

Overview

Maintain assigned areas in a sanitary, orderly, safe and attractive condition.

Responsibilities

Cleaning

  • Cleans assigned areas using appropriate cleaning solutions and disinfectants:
  • Dry mops and wet mops non-carpet floors.
  • Vacuums carpeted floors, stairs and stairwells.
  • Maintains all entries to hospital, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
  • Washes furnishings and equipment.
  • Dusts windowsills, blinds, furniture and all other areas requiring dusting.
  • Empties all trash receptacles and replaces with new bags. Transport all trash to compactor and discarded cardboard to the appropriate recycling receptacle.
  • Scours and polishes sink, showers, toilets, mirrors, and similar equipment, and replenishes supplies of soap, paper towels, and other disposable items.
  • Washes walls, ceiling vents and windows.
  • Makes beds with clean linens in prescribed manner. Cleans bed units at discharge and when exchanging rooms.
  • Notifies supervisor when supplies are low.
  • Notifies supervisor of work orders, mechanical failures and unsafe conditions.
  • Assists laundry staff with collection, folding, and delivery of laundry, as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Housekeeping experience in a hospital/health care facility preferred.
