Overview

The Lease Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of wells, processing units, and related facilities. This role focuses on oil, gas, and water separation facility operations, major utilities, and equipment upkeep. It includes responsibilities for start-up and ongoing operations of large projects, adherence to safety standards, environmental compliance, and effective communication with the production team.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure personal and co-worker safety; follow and enforce all safety rules.

  • Serve as the primary operations contact for assigned facilities.

  • Monitor process flow, equipment operations, and unit safety systems.

  • Inspect and gauge tanks, read meters, record data, and take product samples.

  • Adjust process parameters to maintain product quality.

  • Issue Safe Work Permits and perform gas testing for maintenance safety.

  • Conduct basic equipment maintenance (e.g., lubrication, filter changes, valve adjustments).

  • Maintain and operate company vehicle in good condition.

  • Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling as needed.

  • Complete accurate gauge sheets and record production changes.

  • Communicate regularly with Production Foreman on operating conditions.

  • Perform winterization and summarization of equipment for efficiency.

  • Use monitoring and testing equipment, including handheld and computer systems.

  • Inspect safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus, and safety valves.

  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts for operations and safety.

  • Adhere to environmental policies, minimizing flaring, spills, and emissions.

  • Support team objectives, demonstrate reliable attendance, and work independently when required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • Previous oil & gas operations or related experience required.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to call-outs as needed.

  • Proficiency in maintaining and repairing surface equipment related to oil & gas production.

  • Strong computer, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Physically able to lift over 50 lbs and climb ladders/stairways.

  • Ability to use a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other safety equipment.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.

  • Demonstrated reliability, teamwork, and commitment to safety.

  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
