About this role

Overview

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist I, also referred to as a Medical Technologist (Med Tech) or Medical Laboratory Technologist I. The Clinical Lab Scientist I (CLS I) requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team. They play an important role in the diagnostic process, contributing significantly to patient care and treatment. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Responsibilities

** If you are a licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or if you will be obtaining your ASCP certification in MLS, MT, or MLT within 90 days, you are encouraged to apply for this position. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Perform laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to aid in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions, this may include routine tests as well as specialized tests 
  • Interpret lab test results and identify any abnormalities, ensure the accuracy and reliability of these results to assist doctors in making informed decisions about patient care 
  • Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain high standards in laboratory testing, you may also calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment 
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of all laboratory tests performed and their results, input data into our laboratory information systems 
  • Ensure all laboratory operations comply with hospital policies, governmental regulations, and accreditation requirements

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • ASCP certification, or equivalent, required within 1 year of employment.
  • One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489).
  • Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.
