Job Description Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Associate plays a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials in and out of the facility. This position is responsible for verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, maintaining accurate records, and preparing items for delivery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and efficiency are essential to supporting production and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned)

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment to ensure efficient operations.

• Pack and unpack incoming and outgoing products, ensuring items are handled with care and accuracy.

• Verify contents of shipments against purchase orders or invoices to ensure accuracy.

• Ensure all required paperwork is complete, accurate, and properly attached to shipments.

• Utilize company systems and shipping/receiving software to log, track, and manage shipments.

• Communicate with internal departments (e.g., Purchasing, Inventory, Production) to resolve discrepancies or clarify shipment details.

• Lift, carry, and move packages of varying weights and sizes to designated storage or shipping areas.

• Prioritize packages based on expedite and non-expedite labels to ensure timely processing.

• Inspect incoming shipments for damage and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.

• Assist with inventory counts and cycle checks as needed.

• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment (if certified) to move materials safely.

• Follow all safety procedures and company policies related to shipping and receiving operations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                                 

• This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• 0–3 years of experience in shipping and receiving or logistics support.

• Familiarity with ERP systems for tracking shipments and inventory (Epicor E10 experience a plus).

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling documentation and product verification.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced shipping environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

• Basic understanding of shipping documentation such as packing slips, bills of lading, and freight labels.

• Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal departments and external carriers.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in a shipping and receiving role within a manufacturing or distribution setting.

• Experience using ERP or MRP systems to manage shipping and receiving workflows.

• Forklift certification or experience operating pallet jacks and other shipping equipment.

• Knowledge of freight carriers and shipping methods (e.g., FedEx, UPS, LTL).

• Familiarity with safety procedures and compliance standards related to shipping and receiving.

• Understanding of Lean principles as applied to shipping and logistics.
