POSITION SUMMARY

The incumbent will gather, monitor, and analyze vibrations on rotating equipment in a predictive maintenance program. Accurately diagnose symptoms and problems in rotating equipment and provide repair recommendations. Regularly schedule monitoring of equipment with predictive technologies, coordinating the necessary maintenance to correct deficiencies sooner at lower maintenance and opportunity costs.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vibration Analyst certification – Vibration Analyst: Category 1 with ability to obtain the Category II within one year.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience performing machinery vibration measurement and analysis in mechanical and process areas is desired.
  • May have a combination of years of experience in chemical operations/mechanical and education.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of machine vibration theory, be capable of routine data collection and periodic monitoring, and be able to perform fault diagnosis and condition evaluation including turbo machinery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to operate vibration data collection/analysis equipment including associated equipment, technology, and software for vibration analysis.
  • Ability to supervise contract vibration resources.
  • Previous experience in rotating equipment vibration measurement and analysis.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written communications required.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve difficult problems while working in a team environment.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet departmental goals and objectives.

 

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Collect vibration data (overall & FFT) on pre-defined routes.
  • Analyze vibration data including establishing appropriate baseline readings and setting alarm levels.
  • Recommend corrective actions to maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Maintain the condition monitoring software database.
  • Observe field maintenance activities and recommend improvements to work instructions or practices.
  • Update the plant lubrication list, as appropriate.
  • Present lubrication related activities and findings clearly through written and verbal reports to management and internal customers utilizing proper industry terminology.
  • Work independently with guidance needed in only complex situations.
  • Demonstrate a growing knowledge of reliability processes and methods.
  • Provide input to the maintenance & operations of the facility by reviewing rotating equipment service requests. Add comments as to the recommended work scope and necessity for repair.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed and within accepted specifications for all rotating equipment maintenance activities within assigned area.
  • Provide support to the routine and emergency maintenance of critical machine systems.
  • Identification and support of reliability improvements.
  • Support turnaround planning and execution activities.

  • Reduce maintenance expense and unplanned downtime due to lubrication-related issues.
  • Ensure that lubrication preventive maintenance activities are completed as scheduled, effective, and appropriate.
  • Ensure rotating equipment files are accurate and complete.
  • Demonstrate leadership and the ability to influence others without direct authority.
  • Flexibility to support varying schedules based on facility needs.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
