POSITION SUMMARY

Describe overall job purpose.

Mitigate risk to Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizers’ business goals and objectives by identifying and preventing reliability problems.  This position will help support the achievement of goals pertaining to safety, environmental, production and costs by improving reliability and maintenance methods.  The position will assure compliance to appropriate regulatory and industry standards and practices by monitoring, supporting and implementing them as needed.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

List any education, certifications, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

List years of experience required for the position. 

  • 5+ years of relevant technical experience operating in a maintenance and reliability environment along with several years of technical management experience, resource and budget management
  • 8+ years rotating equipment reliability experience within the chemical industry
  • Familiarity with reliability methods such as preventive and predictive technologies
  • Familiar with PSM programs and compliance; Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change, etc.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience implementing change and be able to implement a reliability centered maintenance program
  • Ability to read, understand defined engineering documents such as codes, familiarity with Microsoft Word, Project and Excel, Maximo and Microsoft Project
  • Ability to effectively work with and influence personnel in a dynamic and demanding work environment
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required.
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.  

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Actions that define the elements of the job’s overall purpose.

  • Coordinate Root Cause Failure Analysis process to assure effectiveness and consistency. Initiate root cause analysis for maintenance and reliability issues.  Facilitate reliability driven RCFA’s and implement findings
  • Evaluate, select and apply reliability practices to achieve best results. Utilize reliability tools such as failure calculations, failure evaluations, cost analysis and others to evaluate and prioritize action items
  • Implement and monitor preventive/predictive/inspection practices to assure equipment and process integrity
  • Prepare reports which monitor and track maintenance engineering and reliability indicators such as Worst Actors, RCFA status, etc. Monitor, analyze and provide recommendations as needed relating to maintenance and reliability metrics from within and outside the department
  • Provide budgeting recommendations, administer financial accountability processes, track actual expenditures to routing expenses and specific projects
  • Provide technical assistance to resolve equipment design, operations and maintenance problems. Assist operations and maintenance departments in developing procedures, training, etc. to ensure equipment is operated in a reliable fashion within its design parameters.  Provide written risk-based justifications to invest resources needed to improve reliability
  • Maintenance – Review planning, scheduling and effectiveness of predictive maintenance and preventative maintenance activities with equipment specialists. Provide technical support for turnaround and shutdown activities.  Audit work orders for proper description of failure causes and work performed historical information.  Coordinate reviews of reliability related emergency work orders.  Design and implement procedures to improve maintenance planning, scheduling and execution
  • Project Management – Represent maintenance interest to the project/area engineer in resolving field design problems so that equipment reliability, operability and maintainability are preserved or enhanced. Perform reliability reviews on each project.  Review proposed equipment additions and modifications to assure reliability issues are addressed.  Develop cost justification for reliability improvement projects and assist operations and maintenance in ranking projects based upon risk and economic significance
  • Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions
  • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
