SUMMARY:

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties. 

This position also inspects, and audits purchased, fabricated, and welded metal components and assemblies.  This role will also inspect, and audit painted parts.  Conduct performance testing on painted products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Functions as a lead technician in the Quality bays to help prioritize and complete units for delivery to customer
  • Responsible for the calibration correctness of all shop flow meters and pressure gauges
  • Ensures that all trucks in production have the correct components installed per written work instructions; verifies that installed equipment decals, owner’s manuals, spare parts lists, and other product paperwork is shipped with the vehicle
  • Performs the Pre-Paint QC Inspection on each completed vehicle using Record 360, checking for build correctness, build quality, functionality, and proper completion of all production and testing paperwork on the work order
  • Inspects vehicles returning from the paint shop for paint uniformity, correctness and paint adhesion; completes the Final QC Inspection using Record 360, Vehicle Condition Report and DOT Federal Annual Inspection form, checking for damages, cleanliness, decals, loose items, and ensures that all functions operate and are labeled correctly
  • Test drives all railgear equipped, light-duty vehicles with wheel modifications for unusual noises, squeaks, rattles and for correct wheel balance and alignment
  • Photographs completed vehicles and uploads them to “Photo Library” 
  • Maintains a solid working rapport between the Quality Control Department and Manufacturing, Engineering, and employees on the floor to resolve discrepancies as noted
  • Responsible for ensuring cleanliness of areas and safety consciousness
  • Responsible for detection, documentation, and notification of proper supervisors of improper operations, defective material and questionable conditions and work habits 
  • Sets up and tests mechanical inspections using proper tools and procedures, including performing non-destructive testing, dimensional checks, blueprint readings, and using necessary shop mathematics
  • Must maintain a system for collections of data and record maintenance 
  • Responsible for periodic checks of welding machines to verify the machine setting is within prescribed limits for the welding operation being performed 
  • Encourage and promote the practice of safety and adherence to safety and other company rules, and the proper operation and care of all equipment and machinery 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair issues as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Possess High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED Must possess ability and knowledge to confidently read blueprints and weld procedures)
  • Must have prior knowledge of welding, fabrication
  • Must possess standard knowledge of hand and power tools and know how to use them 
  • 1-3 years’ experience in previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • General mechanical aptitude and experience with parts; knowledge of hydraulic, heavy equipment, diesel truck and/or farm equipment preferred. 
  • Knowledge of correct hose and electrical routing, as well ability to read schematics 
  • General aptitude in working with common computer software (MS Office Suite, internet, etc.) to process orders.  Knowledge of inventory software to process purchase orders and tracking inventory helpful. 

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Work is conducted inside and outside during all-weather types.
  • Temperatures will be variable according to season and specific work site.

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Must be able to work in cold and hot weather conditions some part of the time.
  • Be able to grip, pull and push heavy objects; perform routine lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Walking, climbing, crouching, standing, and sitting are required; ability to work with hands
