We are now recruiting for a Night Shunter role for Great Bear in Sherburn. 

Job Description

Shift Pattern:

  • 3ON 3OFF nights - 18:00pm-06:00am. 

Salary:

  • Basic - £15.81 per hour
  • Overtime - £18.47 per hour. 

Your job duties will include but not limited to the following. 

  • Observing and adhering to company rules, site procedures and all aspects of Health & Safety and Hygiene at all times
  • Effectively managing own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive
  • Liaising with colleagues and ensuring completion of shift report
  • Conducting daily checks, immediately reporting any defects and / or damage and completing associated documentation
  • Carrying out trailer checks on loaded trailers and report to ops staff
  • Completing trailer checklist and reporting to operations desk
  • Carrying out shunting duties including relevant maintenance and safety checks
  • Liaising with the warehouse control and goods in staff to ensure smooth and efficient loading / unloading of trailers
  • Completing vehicles downloads as per the company policy
  • Monitoring services / MOTs – liaising with Transport Office and with service vendor
  • Assisting with fuel delivery / manual dip of fuel
  • Keeping yard in clean / tidy condition
  • Liaising with Transport Office as and when required i.e. special promotions and / or livery schedules
  • Manage the flow of traffic in and out of the yard

Qualifications

  • A Full C+E, CPC and Tacho Card would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience of Shunting will be essential. 
  • Attention to detail / accurate
  • Ability to work without direct supervision
  • Adaptable and methodical approach to work / training
  • Conscientious and reliable
  • Excellent communication skills in order to deliver accurate information
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
