Job Summary
As a Senior Property Accountant at CSX, you will be responsible for accounting, analytics and various deliverables related to the $54B in CSX’s property, plant & equipment (PP&E). Responsibilities also include preparation of intermediate to complex journal entries, account reconciliations, asset rollforwards, analytics, maintaining compliance with related SOX controls, and providing supporting information and disclosures for external reporting. This role interfaces with various levels of management within the Finance Organization as well as within operations and support departments to obtain information and data for specific work responsibilities. Other duties include ad hoc projects to support growth, modernization, and streamlining of existing processes.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Prepare and upload monthly journal entries (intermediate to complex), rollforwards, and analytics
- Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Research and document accounting conclusions for complex or non‑routine transactions
- Serve as a point of contact for assigned accounting areas and provide guidance to business partners
- Prepares supporting schedules for financial reporting: STB (R-1) and SEC (10-Q / K)
- Ensures SOX compliance and prepares support for audit requests and external reporting
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree from an accredited institution required in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- 3 or more years of experience in Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate Degree
- Public Accounting experience
- SAP experience
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to support the accounting team as the company modernizes its accounting systems
- Knowledge of Oracle or SAP GL & subledger systems
- Knowledge of PowerPlan fixed asset subledger
- Knowledge of SOX regulatory standards
- Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

This role offers an annual salary range based on experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary we provide an annual bonus opportunity.
