About this role
CSL is a global biotechnology leader committed to improving lives through innovative medicines and vaccines. We’re seeking a skilled Process Engineer - Laboratory to support the operation, maintenance and compliance of laboratory equipment at our Melbourne R&D site.
This is a hands on technical role where you’ll provide engineering expertise, troubleshoot complex systems, and work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure laboratories operate safely, reliably, and in line with GxP standards.
What You’ll Do
- Provide engineering and technical leadership for laboratory equipment and associated utilities.
- Manage service providers to ensure equipment, systems and controlled environments remain operational and compliant.
- Troubleshoot and resolve plant, utility and laboratory equipment issues, including supporting shutdowns and start ups.
- Maintain accurate system data, calibration and maintenance records within CMMS (SAP PM).
- Lead and close out equipment and utility related deviations and non conformances.
- Support audit readiness for TGA and OGTR inspections.
- Develop and review technical documentation, including process flow diagrams and system schematics.
- Act as a key point of contact between CSL R&D, Engineering Services and third party suppliers.
- Participate in on call rotations and respond to alarms outside business hours when required.
Your Experience
- A Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Biochemical or Mechanical) or higher.
- Hands on experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology laboratories, or regulated plant operations.
- Strong working knowledge of GxP, laboratory compliance, and regulated facilities (PC2/BC2).
- Experience supporting engineering systems such as WFI, PFS, HVAC, SCADA and related utilities.
- Sound understanding of regulatory frameworks including TGA, OGTR, PIC/s, FDA and EMEA.
- Experience with SAP PM, Siemens PCS7, shutdown planning, asset criticality and preventative maintenance is highly regarded.
