BARTENDER

Description

The Bartender is responsible for providing an exceptional Member and guest experience by preparing and serving beverages in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.  This role is key to upholding the standards of hospitality, service, and presentation expected in a private country club environment. 

Requirements

Member Service & Hospitality

• Provide warm, attentive, and personalized service to all Members and guests
   
• Anticipate Member needs and preferences to enhance the overall Club experience
   
• Maintain a polished, professional demeanor at all times
   

Beverage Preparation

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages following Club recipes and standards
   
• Possess strong knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, and craft cocktails
   
• Make recommendations based on Member preferences and menu offerings
   

Bar Operations

• Set up and break down the bar per club standards
   
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar throughout service
   
• Ensure proper handling and storage of all beverages and garnishes
   
• Manage opening and closing duties accurately and efficiently
   

Compliance

• Verify age requirements when serving alcohol and consistently follow responsible alcohol service guidelines
   
• Adhere to all Club policies, health department regulations, and state/local liquor laws
   
• Follow proper cash handling and POS procedures
   

Teamwork & Communication

• Work collaboratively with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure seamless service
   
• Communicate Member feedback, opportunities, or concerns to management in a timely manner
   

Events & Banquets

• Assist with bar service for Club events, outings, banquets, and private functions as needed
   
• Adapt to varying event styles, from casual gatherings to formal dining experiences
   

Qualifications

• Previous bartending experience in a hospitality, hotel, or country club setting preferred
   
• Strong knowledge of beverage preparation, mixology, and service etiquette
   
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
   
• Ability to multitask and remain composed during high-volume periods
   
• Must be 21 years of age or older
   
• Illinois BASSET certification (or local equivalent) required or obtained upon hire)
