GENERAL PURPOSE
The Chief of Engineering is required to manage and develop team staff and to coordinate the activities of the engineering team, consisting of individuals with different skill sets. The role is focused on the management of the team to deliver an outcome to the location by utilizing the technical expertise of the subject matter experts within the team itself.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Line management and leadership of the engineering team(s).
Manage work assignments, scheduling, and operations within the parameters and budget limitations agreed.
Ensure that the team meets or exceeds PO's for operations success.
Deliver best effort technical services to all team members.
Manage and oversee all engineering procedures and work activities conducted by your team.
Be the point of issue escalation for any technical or engineering-related issues.
Manage escalation of issues when required for resolution.
Provide input to the appropriate central functions’ teams on recommended product improvements, troubleshooting features, and service assurance/performance issues based on equipment performance outcomes.
Actively participate in engineering team tasks, on-site work, and staff rostering for on-call engineering services where required.
Staff development and mentoring as required to ensure team skills and technical capability are developed and maintained to meet the skills requirements of the team.
Development and delivery of hands-on internal and external technical training specific to the delivered solution, where required.
Collaborate with the peer General / Operations Manager to ensure the best utilization of engineering resources.
Provides input on the operating budget based on known workload, staff development plans, and infrastructure support strategies as agreed with line management.
Manages team operations within the agreed budget, quality, and schedule requirements.
Manages team compliance with site safety requirements, ensuring zero injuries to staff or assigned contractors.
Oversees team response and handling of the end user and partner non-contracted support issues.
Performs other services and duties, as delegated, and serves on a variety of facility committees as required.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
BS/BA in Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 5 years of work experience in mechanical engineering
High level of decision-making skills
Able to motivate, influence, and train people.
Able to interact with all professionals of Plant Management.
Spanish language skills are a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations.
Ability to multitask and establish priorities.
Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility, and leadership.
Possess a thorough knowledge of laundry equipment.
Ability to use knowledge of the working environment to meet established goals and objectives.
Proficient in the use of Windows-based office software, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
GENERAL CONDITIONS, ABILITIES, AND FUNCTIONS
This position is an inside work, protected from weather conditions, where you may encounter extreme heat, potential hazards, oil exposures, atmospheric conditions (In non-confined spaces) like fumes, odors, mists, gases, etc., and due to workload demands, is subject to extended work hours requiring stamina beyond normal demands or levels.
