The role

This is a hands-on, part-time role within a collaborative finance team. You’ll share responsibilities with the wider accounting function and work closely with the Finance Manager and another Finance Assistant to support day-to-day finance operations and month-end processes.

It’s an ideal role for someone who enjoys being close to the detail, takes pride in accurate records, and wants to contribute to a mission-led, fast-moving business.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but won’t be limited to:

  • Performing regular bank reconciliations

  • Entering and processing invoices accurately and on time

  • Setting up supplier payments and supporting payment runs

  • Assisting with cash flow forecasting and monitoring

  • Supporting month-end close, including preparation of journals and reconciliations

  • Maintaining clean and well-organised financial records

  • Working collaboratively with the finance team to improve processes and controls

  • Providing ad-hoc finance support as required

About you

Essential:

  • AAT qualified (or similar)

  • Previous experience working within an accounting or finance team

  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach

  • Comfortable working with Xero and Google Sheets / Excel

  • Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a startup, scale-up or tech-enabled business

  • An interest in purpose-driven or impact-focused organisations

In return

Salary: up to £30,000 FTE (20k pro-rata)

Hours: 25 hours per week

Flexible location: Ideally we would love for someone to be Cornwall based working on a hybrid model, however fully remote with occasional travel to meet the team in the South West will also be considered. Everyone meets in-person four times a year for our team away days.

1. Application

2. Screening call stage

This will be a 20-30 minute video call with our People & Places Lead to get to know you and what you’re looking for in your next role, to answer any questions you might have, and to make sure we align on all the basics.

3. Second round interview stage

This will be a one-hour video call with one of our hiring team, expect a competency-based interview with members of our hiring team, giving you the opportunity to learn more about the company, the team and the role in more detail. It’s also a great chance for us to understand your experience and approach, and for you to ask any questions you may have.

4. Values and behaviours interview

The final stage is a one-hour video call with our hiring manager, where the focus will be who you are as a team member. We’ll talk about your personal strengths and approach to work, how you communicate and collaborate with others, and alignment with our company values: united for good, think creatively, always be human, and empower greatness.
