Job Description

The Automation Engineer is developing or has developed proficiencies in some areas of the discipline, but is developing and expanding their skill sets and knowledge base under the guidance of more experienced Engineers. This role will have the ability to successfully support the execution of all phases of design. The individual shall begin to display working knowledge of standard industry Instrumentation and Control System hardware components, and construction document set preparation by generating specifications and data sheets for Instrumentation and schematics and plan drawings for control system fabrication and installation. Tasks will include utilizing computer aided drafting and engineering software. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications  

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in discipline specific degree (ARE, ChemE, ME or EE) 

  • 0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting 

  • Fundamentals of Engineering Exam registration or completion preferred 

Additional Qualifications 

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit preferred 

  • Fundamental experience with performing instrumentation and controls engineering calculations, and developing and implementing instrumentation and control system design required 

  • Fundamental experience with the electrical code preferred 

  • Ability to interface with client and external partners  

  • Fundamental experience conducting field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting  

  • Proficient with fundamental internal cross-discipline project team coordination preferred 

  • Proficient at fundamental discipline design calculations under the supervision of an engineer required 

Responsibilities  

  • Work may include all levels of design such as studies, conceptual and schematic design, design development, construction  documentation, and construction administration. 

  • Works on matters of fundamental and basic complexity in a support role under the direction of more experienced Lead/Sr. Instrument & Control System Engineer. 

  • This role is expected to self-check one’s own work 

  • May work on one or more projects simultaneously as directed by a Supervisor.
