Job Description:

Job Summary
• The Boiler Operator II is responsible for proficient maintenance related to HVAC and mechanical systems, electrical and plumbing, and safety inspections. This position will monitor, maintain, and inspect boiler steam, condensate systems, chiller systems, booster pumps, tube stations, elevators, as well as serve as dispatch for the Computer Maintenance Management Software (CMMS). Responds to work requests timely and professionally and is able to complete work assignments. The Boiler Operator II may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as necessary and approved by the Supervisor.
Job Requirements
• Education
◦ Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
◦ Preferred: Trade School in the mechanical fields
• Experience
◦ Required: At least three years prior boiler/chiller/mechanical work or related experience.
• Skills
◦ Proficient communication skills.
◦ Ability to prioritize workload.
◦ Proficient skills necessary to find solutions to equipment malfunctions and initiate necessary repairs.
◦ Proficient knowledge of the safe operation of all tools used in the performance of duties.
◦ Proficient knowledge to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for repairs to building equipment and structure.
◦ Proficient knowledge of regulatory requirements governing fire alarm systems, HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, life safety systems and building repairs.
◦ Demonstrates proficient technical skills for the repair and general maintenance of facilities in the following areas:
▪ Plumbing and fixtures
▪ Electrical wiring, devices, lighting and motors
▪ Heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and cooling towers
▪ Steam and boilers
▪ Pressure vessels and associated equipment
▪ Generators
▪ Medical gas and vacuum
▪ Refrigeration units and ice machines
▪ Air compressors and refrigerated air dryers
▪ Air handlers, fans, and heat wheels
▪ Chilled water and condenser pumps
Licensure/Certification/Registration
◦ Required: Active Driver's License
◦ Preferred: STI Fire Stop Certified (provided by Cox yearly if not already certified)
◦ Preferred: State License for Boiler Operator and/or some form of MEP Certification from an accredited trade school. Such examples include but are not limited to Vatterott College and Ozarks Technical Community College.
