Registered Nurse, Parkway Cardiology Associates

Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift

M-F 8a-5p

Travel to Satellite clinics required

Position Summary:

Provides professional nursing care within an outpatient clinic setting and coordinates care planning with other disciplines as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
  • Precepts new employees/students as needed.  Reviews clinical performance of preceptee with office manager or clinical instructor/supervisor.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies.
  • Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment.  Accurately records history and performs basic triage procedures per policy.
  • After retrieving condition of patients, creates nursing history and discusses recommendations for appropriate interventions to appropriate practitioner.
  • Clinical expertise and knowledge is such that individual can resolve complex patient/management/physician problems without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy by using the AIDET fundamentals of communication.
  • Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families during their visit.
  • Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
  • Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment.
  • Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
  • Schedules all outside patient appointments per physician order and relays accurately to patients.
  • Take calls from hospitals/nursing homes and relays appropriate information to practitioner in a timely manner.
  • Assure test results are received and relayed to the patient in a timely manner.
  • Completes medical orientation checklist.
  • Initiates appropriate patient education.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Implements care appropriate to diagnosis and per physician order.
  • Problem solves and coordinates clinic patient care with physician supervision.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Collaborate with the patient, physician and other care team members as part of a team based approach to overall patient care.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Minimum of three (3) years of professional nursing experience. Cardiology experience preferred. 

 

Licensure Requirement:      

Must have a valid Tennessee RN license. CPR, OSHA training annually. BLS certification strongly preferred.
