Full Time, 32 Hours per pay period, Night Shift

Position Summary:

Responsible for the daily operations of the hospital Gift Shop, including maintaining the appearance and stock of the Gift Shop and providing retail assistance to its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Assists customers and operates cash register in courteous and efficient manner.
  • Maintains knowledge of merchandise and prices.
  • Accurately records gift shop sales.
  • Responds to customer requests and questions in a courteous manner. Assists customers with selections as needed.
  • Responsible for restocking and pricing merchandise on a regular basis.
  • Assists in maintenance of equipment, stock levels on candy, helium, balloons and over-the-counter medicines, and other items requested by department leader.
  • Maintains the appearance of the gift shop, including proper upkeep of displayed merchandise.
  • Processes employee payroll deductions, exchanges and refunds in an effective and efficient fashion.
  • Responsible for training new employees and volunteers.
  • Maintains an awareness of shoplifters and follows proper procedure in apprehension and arrest.
  • Opens and closes the store without assistance, balancing sales at days end.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.  Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
