Administrative Supervisor, Nursing Administrative Support

Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Night Shift

Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System is a 170-bed hospital serving an eight-county region in East Tennessee’s Lakeway Area. The facility includes more than 20 emergency suites, advanced laboratories, radiology, and therapy services, and a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence for mammograms, biopsies, and nurse navigation. The Women’s Center features six modern labor and delivery suites and a secure nursery for newborn care. Position Summary:

A registered nurse who directs and coordinates administrative activities on a specified tour of duty; referring patient care problems to appropriate nursing staff member and/or non-nursing problems to the appropriate department head.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews staffing each shift for each unit.
  • Assists charge nurse to assure adequate staffing when there is a problem.
  • Makes rounds and provides managerial presence.
  • Assists new personnel and acts as a resource to the nursing staff.
  • Assists with procedures when staff has difficulty.
  • Acts as advocate to find resources such as supplies as needed.
  • Listens to staff problems and effectively resolves conflict as necessary.
  • Responds to safety codes when necessary.
  • Provides information to nurse managers regarding quality and employee problems.
  • Resolves patient/family complaints when necessary.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:           

None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

 

Minimum Experience:         

Three (3) years of clinical experience and experience in the teaching of nursing is desired.

 

Licensure Requirement:      

Current Tennessee RN license. CPR required.
