HS2 is Great Britain’s new high-speed railway. Once operational, HS2’s trains will provide journeys between Birmingham and London, with services continuing on to Manchester, the North West and Scotland using the conventional railway. The new route comprises 140-miles of track, four stations, two depots, 32 miles of tunnel, and 130 bridges. The first HS2 services will run between Birmingham Curzon Street and Old Oak Common in London between 2029 and 2033.
HS2 are in the process of procuring c12 railway systems contracts, in excess of £4b, for the design, supply, construction, test & commissioning and maintenance for the route between London and Birmingham
HRS02 Tunnel and Lineside Mechanical & Electrical Fitout is being delivered by Costain (Contractor) on behalf of High Speed 2 (Employer). HRS02’s scope of works is to deliver the design, supply, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of HS2’s Tunnel and Lineside M&E systems during construction. This will also include services within the tunnels, together with cross-passages, low voltage power services and distribution on the open part of the route
As part of delivery the project intends on putting in place a best in class commercial function centred around providing value for money for both the HS2 client and for the respective parent companies delivering the scheme.
You will be working for Costain to follow the Project Procurement Strategy and help to formulate and develop the package procurement strategies ensuring compliance with the Costain Way policies, procedures and standards. You will control the procurement process and timeously procure all the required Subcontract / Supply packages, (incl but not limited to HV equipment, labour, plant and materials) and strategic materials and plant items identified in the Tender Event Schedule all in line with the project’s requirements and both Client and internal control procedures. Carry out procurement in an ethical, transparent and fair way whilst demonstrating best value with robust procurement process, innovation, lessons learnt and an inclusive procurement process at all times.
