What We Need

Corpay is currently looking to hire a Senior Staff Accountant within our Accounting division. This position falls under our Corporate Payments line of business and is located in our Finance and Accounting Center of Excellence Center in Brentwood, TN.  You will report directly to the Assistant Controller and regularly collaborate with the team and other departments.

 

How We Work

As a Senior Staff Accountant, you will be expected to work in an office environment. Corpay will set you up for success by providing:

 

  • Hybrid schedule (in during 4 days of close & twice a week otherwise) in our Brentwood office
  • On-the job training with formal training as needed
  • CPE credits for CPA and other accounting certifications
  • Company-issued equipment + remote access

 

Role Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Preparation and review of various month-end close activities, including timely preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prompt response to provide additional support for preliminary month-end financial review and flux explanations at the request of supervisors
  • Ensure collaboration with the accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Mentor and develop staff with collaborative approach establishing accountabilities, objectives, priorities and monitoring/evaluating results
  • Continually evaluate and optimize month-end close processes to deliver process automation and improved accuracy.
  • Participates in the preparation and review of internal controls and the corresponding policies and procedures that improve the overall operation and reduce risks of the business.
  • Coordinate with other team members within our department to ensure accuracy of the financial account balances
  • Partner with and liaison with other departments on analyzing financial balances, problem resolution, and strategic business initiatives
  • Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as assigned

  • Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal skills, well developed problem-solving skills; solid organizational skills; and the demonstrated ability to be self-directed and effectively communicate to all levels of an organization when necessary
  • Ability to coordinate and work within a team in a hybrid environment
  • Demonstrated background and knowledge of US GAAP and SOX
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask and meet deadlines timely accurately in a high pace environment
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented individual with the ability to see the big picture
  • Desire to work in a complex, large-scale accounting and finance environment
  • The right person will be ambitious and flexible who wants to learn and grow professionally
  • Uncompromising commitment to diligence, rigor and excellence

  • Advanced computer skills for Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and up to date skills for ERP, EPM and DB systems

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA track preferred
  • 2-5+ years of previous experience in accounting roles – public accounting experience a plus
  • Understanding of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Fintech, financial, technology sector/industry experience a plus
  • Interest with process improvement and IT system implementation projects
