The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for overseeing accurate, timely, and compliant payroll operations with a global scope, while directly managing and developing a Payroll Specialist. Reporting to the Vice President of HR Operations, this role partners closely with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure payroll processes support employees across multiple geographies and comply with all applicable regulations. This position is based in Dallas, Texas and requires an onsite presence five days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Global Payroll Operations & Compliance
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for U.S. and international employee populations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, local, and country specific regulations.
  • Review payroll calculations, variances, and exception reports prior to submission and approval.
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings, reconciliations, audits, and year end activities (e.g., W 2s and applicable international equivalents).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for global payroll vendors and service providers.
  • Supervision & Leadership
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for a Payroll Specialist.
  • Assign and prioritize work to ensure consistent payroll execution and business continuity.
  • Develop and maintain payroll documentation, processes, and controls to support scalability and audit readiness.
  • Escalate and resolve complex or sensitive payroll issues with discretion and professionalism.
  • Cross Functional Partnership & Process Improvement
  • Partner with HR Operations, Finance, and IT teams to ensure alignment between payroll, benefits, time tracking, and employee data.
  • Support payroll system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and global expansion efforts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.
  • Reporting & Controls
  • Prepare and review payroll reports, reconciliations, and leadership updates for the VP of HR Operations.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure confidentiality, data integrity, and security of all payroll and employee information.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including supervisory or lead responsibility.
  • Experience supporting global or multi country payroll operations preferred.
  • Preferred experience with UKG

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. payroll laws and exposure to international payroll regulations.
  • Experience with payroll and HR systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG, Paycom, or similar).
  • Proven ability to lead and develop payroll staff while managing confidential information.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to partner cross functionally.
