About the unit
The Intermediate Care Unit is a 25-bed unit caring for a variety of patients. Our unit falls under the critical care umbrella. This unit is considered a cardiac unit, and the patients are typically monitored on telemetry. IMC is a fast-paced environment; the acuity of the patients can change rapidly. The IMC staff works together as a team to provide the patients with the utmost efficient care. We are looking for new team members to join the unit that will exhibit high energy, with innovative ideas to cultivate an atmosphere of excellent patient care, reaching for professional growth and help development of a cohesive team environment collectively striving for the same goal of nursing excellence.
About Taylor Hospital
A Magnet-designated hospital that is a recognized health care leader serving the area since 1977. It offers specialty services that include 24-hour emergency care, wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a surgical pavilion, a pain management clinic, orthopedic surgery, an inpatient rehabilitation facility and full-service radiology, including advanced CT with cardiac scoring, fixed MRI including pacemaker, cinema vision and ultrasound (MSK and elastography).
Scope of work
Under direction of licensed nursing staff, provides general clerical duties, reception duties and requisition of supplies, equipment, and coordinates with other departments for unit efficiency. Assists in maintaining the general function of the nursing unit. Answers call lights and forwards requests to appropriate team member. Answers all telephone calls within a timely fashion using appropriate scripting. Uses physician calling preferences when contacting physicians. Schedule follow up physician appointments for patients upon discharge. Contacts physicians immediately regarding stat consults per policy, for other routine contacts during business hours must contact within 2 hours. Assembles, disassembles, and maintains patient medical record per unit standard.
Range of Pay
Range of pay between $18.03 and $21.71, based on experience.
Qualifications
Required - High School Diploma or equivalent
1 year of relevant experience Medical related experience, Preferred
Familiarity with keyboard, Required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
