The Principal oversees the facility's educational programs to provide professional instructional services and the continual delivery of quality education programs, in accordance with contract requirements, and company goals and objectives.

  • Design, implement and/or evaluate curriculum and programs of study that meet the needs, interests and abilities of the inmates/students, maintaining current standards for all educational programs.
  • Supervise staff of the education department in the performance of their duties and evaluates as prescribed by the facility and company policy. 
  • Implement policies and procedures and oversee staff compliance with standards to meet or exceed facility goals and objectives.
  • Establish and enforce standards of a safe classroom environment and behavior that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the interests of the inmates/students.
  • Monitor classroom activities, adherence to lesson plans, student attendance, and evaluates the instructional effectiveness of the education program.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Education, Educational Leadership or Education Administration is required.
  • Three years of experience in a full-time professional education position, including one year of education administration or supervisory work experience in an educational setting, is required.
  • Additional qualifying graduate course work may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis up to two years.
  • There is no substitution of the required year of education supervisory experience.
  • Must possess or be eligible for certification, licensure or other credentials if required by contract and/or state of employment.
  • Continued employment in this position will be contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining required partner agency credentials.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office or other similar software applications is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Minimum Age Requirement:  Must be at least 18 years of age.
