SUMMARY

The Manager of Accounting Operations and Internal Controls is responsible for leading day-to-day accounting operations and maintaining a robust internal control environment that supports accurate financial reporting, operational continuity, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees transactional accounting processes, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-controlled execution. The Manager serves as a key business partner to site functions and Finance teams to proactively identify and resolve process gaps, minimize business disruptions, and strengthen end-to-end financial processes.

 

In addition, this role drives continuous improvement through SAP optimization and process automation initiatives, including workflow enhancements, control automation, master data governance, and system-enabled controls. The Manager ensures appropriate documentation, testing, and sustainment of automated controls and partners with IT, Business Intelligence, and Business Transformation teams to improve efficiency, scalability, and data integrity across transactional finance processes.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Operations Oversight

  • Manage end-to-end accounting operations, i.e., accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and customer billings/ invoicing
  • Support month-end close activities by ensuring operational accounting transactions are complete, accurate, and properly documented


Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting to maintain internal control procedures that safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Collaborate with Site Leadership to ensure adherence to segregation of duties, approval workflows, and documentation requirements across the site
  • Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, or risk exposures and recommend corrective actions
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and remediation follow-up as needed

 

LEADERSHIP & BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of accounting associates, fostering accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations aligned with internal control requirements
  • Ensure appropriate workload distribution and cross-training to support business continuity

Attainment is produced through the requisite participation and commitment of all staff across departments and at all levels within the company. 

 

cGMP is the part of Quality Management System ensuring products are consistently produced to accurate quality standards. Adherence to clearly defined procedures, in compliance with the principles of cGMP, is required when performing operations across Corden Pharma Colorado.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • MBA or CPA preferred
  • Five years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on transactional accounting and internal controls
  • Experience managing AP and AR processes in a manufacturing or life sciences environment preferred
  • Working knowledge of internal control frameworks and audit requirements
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and strong Excel skills
  • Experience in managing teams and cross-functional collaboration in a high paced global setting

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Hands-on experience with an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Mainframe System (i.e., SAP, JD Edward, Oracle)
  • PC skills are required, including extensive spreadsheet knowledge and Microsoft Office experience required, specifically Excel, Power Point, and Word
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

Actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
