General Job Description

The Sr. Quality Engineer is in charge of establishing tactical plans and manage resources to meet Plant’s Quality objectives as well as maintain its Quality certifications.

The Sr. Quality Engineer should be able to negotiate decisions with peers of other departments from a strategic standpoint in benefit of the manufacturing plant without compromising Quality System’s integrity and eliminating possible risks of product and processes.

The Sr. Quality Engineer should be teamwork oriented, good communicator in verbal and written forms using Spanish and English languages., furthermore is expected that to take the leadership for the activities, tasks, and disciplines related to Quality.

The Sr. Quality Engineer, when assigned, review and implement all needed controls during the new product introduction cycle, Engineering change notice (ECN), Deviation Requests (DR), and corrective actions (CI, 8D, etc)

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and maintain internal KPIs in support of Quality, Plant divisional KPIs
  • Takes corrective actions with multidisciplinary groups, to make sure those actions are effective end permanent.
  • Plan resources to balance workloads for the personnel that coordinated by (him/her)
  • Capacita a los ingenieros, técnicos e inspectores de calidad para que sus competencias y conocimientos soporten el cumplimiento de los objetivos de calidad.
  • Certifies personal in critical operations (Test, inspection, and Calibration)
  • Plans, establishes, and executes savings projects for the quality department and the whole site working aligned with the Plant’s continuous improvement strategy.
  • Fulfill requirements outlined in policies, regulations, and safety procedures applicable to the manufacturing site.
  • Plans, executes, and follows up to NPD/NPI’s controls.
  • Plans, executes, and follows up to ECN’s controls.
  • Plans, executes, and follows up to DR’s controls.
  • Plans, executes, follows up, and communicates customer’s corrective actions.
  • Attend trainings required by the company.

Authority:

  • Implements Quality holds and stop shipments in the manufacturing site/distribution center when there is any risk associated with the products being stored/ in transit.
  • Take decisions regarding lot’s acceptance status, when defined acceptance criteria are not clear, including override decisions previously taken by a Quality Engineer.
  • Authorizes Deviation Requests, under the processes in compliance with processes and procedures for that purpose.
  • Certifies personal in critical operations (Test, inspection, and Calibration)
  • Issues corrective action when it is deemed required.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or other disciplines related to the business platform.
  • Basic knowledge of Minitab
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • English written & conversational levels
  • At least 5 Years on quality Electronics areas.
  • Knowledge in problem solving methods.
  • Knowledge in ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of Acceptance criteria per IPC 610

Desired skills:

  • Masters degree in Quality or Administration.
  • Intermediate Statistical Knowledge (ANOVA, DOE)
  • IPC 610 certified.
  • Experience in other departments in addition to Quality
  • Six sigma Green Belt certification
  • Certified internal auditor ISO 9001
