Short Description

  • Assists in providing direct, indirect, and non-patient care responsibilities.
  • Assumes responsibility for record keeping, intra-departmental and interdepartmental communications, written and electronic medical record keeping.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure patient safety.
  • Record keeping responsibilities include documenting Snippets in GE Airstrip every four hours. Document patient’s rhythm interpretation and measure HR, PR, QRS and QT intervals when applicable for each patient monitored on telemetry.
  • Use Telemetry Report Sheet to Document patient’s rhythm including ectopic events, rhythm changes.
  • Document each patient’s hourly rhythm and heart rate on the Telemetry Report Sheet.
  • Notify nursing staff for loss of telemetry signal, weak batteries and changes in patient’s condition including rhythm changes, ectopic events and significant changes in patient’s heart rate.
  • Utilize Event Report Sheet to document notification of patient’s rhythms and ectopic changes to nursing staff. Document escalation calls utilizing chain of command for any delay in response from nursing staff.
  • Utilize Emergency Intercom to communicate life threatening rhythms and ectopic events to the nursing unit.

Experience Required

  • 0-2 years experience preferred.
  • Previous telemetry experience preferred.

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Dysrhythmia course completion preferred.

License/Certification Requirements

  • AHA Basic Life Support Certification required.
  • CRAT – Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician preferred.
  • CCT – Certified Cardiographic Technician preferred. 

Special Requirements

  • Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers.
  • Successfully pass the CUH Dysrhythmia Telemetry Exam with a minimum score of 80%, including 100% accuracy on all Leathal Arrhythmia identification questions.
