The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Systems Administrator (Azure) to manage, operate, and evolve our hybrid IT environment. The role involves hands-on administration of Microsoft Azure, on-premises infrastructure, and leading migration initiatives from on-prem to cloud. The ideal candidate has strong systems administration fundamentals, automation mindset, and experience operating production environments.
Role & Responsibilities
Administer and support Azure subscriptions, resources, and services including:
Azure Virtual Machines (Windows/Linux)
Azure Storage (Blob, File, Disk)
Azure Networking (VNETs, NSGs, VPN, ExpressRoute – good to have)
Azure Backup, Site Recovery, and Monitoring
Manage Azure identities using Azure AD, RBAC, Managed Identities, and Conditional Access
Ensure availability, performance, security, and cost optimization of Azure workloads
Implement and maintain Azure security best practices and governance standards
Administer Windows Server and Linux operating systems
Manage core infrastructure services:
Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies
File servers, print services, patching, and antivirus
Monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root cause analysis
Participate in on-call support and incident response when required
Manage on-prem infrastructure including:
Virtualization platforms - Nutanix (nice to have)
Compute, storage, and networking components
Maintain hybrid connectivity between on-prem and Azure
Support hardware lifecycle management and capacity planning
Plan and execute migrations from on-premises environments to Azure
Perform workload assessments, dependency mapping, and readiness analysis
Execute migrations using tools such as:
Azure Migrate
Azure Site Recovery
Support re-hosting, re-platforming, and modernization initiatives
Ensure minimal downtime and business continuity during migrations
Develop and maintain automation for provisioning, configuration, and operations
Hands-on experience with:
PowerShell
Azure CLI
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as:
ARM Templates / Bicep
Terraform (preferred)
Automate patching, backups, monitoring, and routine operational tasks
Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines where applicable
Configure and manage Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Alerts
Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimization
Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies
Document operational procedures, runbooks, and architecture diagrams
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure administration
Solid background in systems administration (Windows & Linux)
Experience managing hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)
Proven experience in cloud migration projects
Hands-on automation experience using PowerShell / IaC
Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls)
Preferred / Nice to Have
Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, or equivalent)
Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools
Exposure to containers (Docker, AKS) is a plus
Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (ISO 27001, CIS, etc.)
Experience with monitoring and SIEM tools
