ROLE PURPOSE

 

The Program Coordinator I will assist in the planning, development, implementation, and oversight of the day-to-day operation of Connective’s Program(s) as well as participate in program development, policies and procedure formulation, program evaluation and budget preparation.

 

REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

 

  • Reports and is accountable to the Program Manager of the facility or their designate
  • Facilitates the delivery of programs and initiatives to adults, and their families and loved ones, relating to effective intervention and community reintegration
  • Liaises with Connective’s staff to support the agency’s initiatives and to deliver person-centred services in keeping with our philosophy
  • Liaises with other community and government agencies in the area

40 hours per week; Thursday to Monday, 1600 - 0000

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Plans and develops the programs in consultation with the Program Manager or their designate. Plans and implements program activities and special events.
  • Makes recommendation to the supervisor regarding program development, policy and procedure formulation and program evaluation.
  • Reviews and monitors client case notes, written communication tools, incident reports and other program documentation.
  • Assists the Program Manager in assessing client referrals, and carries out client intakes and orientation .
  • Facilitates the effective day-to-day operation of the program/s by ensuring that the necessary facilities and equipment are in place, program guidelines and policies are adhered to, and program standards and licensing requirements are met.
  • Provides direct support services as assigned by Program Manager, Senior Manager or their designate.
  • Monitors program/s expenditures and maintains financial records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provides orientation to new employees and supports onboarding activities.
  • Promotes public awareness of and support for the program by performing duties such as producing promotional materials and attending community events.
  • Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and represent the organization or program in external events.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required
  • Along with the other residence staff, monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory, and food services.
  • Provides input into meal scheduling and preparation, including food inventory.
  • As assigned, organizes, and oversees the preparation of meals and involves the residents in this process.
  • Supports kitchen staff and kitchen related activities as needed.
  • On-Call availability as required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.



WORKING CONDITIONS

 

  • Function independently, while remaining a crucial member of the support team
  • Adhere to Connective policies and procedures.
  • Transports self, staff, volunteers, and others with a reliable vehicle throughout the areas including, remote locations and correctional facilities as needed.
  • Works 40 hours per week with time apportioned through days, evenings, and weekends as necessary to meet the program and client needs.
  • Is a member of CUPE local 1936-11

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • A university Degree or diploma in a relevant branch of the Behavioural Sciences with an emphasis on Social Work, Sociology, and/or Psychology
  • Two (2) years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience with clients with a history of conflict with the law, developmental disabilities and/or spectrum disorders, experiencing homelessness, interaction with social agencies and experiencing mental health challenges
  • Ability to be comfortable interacting with persons who have been involved in the criminal justice system and/or are high risk/high needs/high profile individuals
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated competence in identifying, approaching and securing both short- and long-term funding from appropriate sources
  • Knowledge of government and community justice services
  • A strong ability to work with persons in crisis and persons who are disconnected from their support network
  • Experience in and comfort with public speaking
  • Knowledge of word processing
  • Experience with supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience with facilitating, creating and/or running programs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to successfully complete a Security Clearance and Criminal Records Check
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (Please refer to the Certificates accepted in B.C. - WorkSafeBC)
  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Personal transportation that is in good repair, insured for business up to $1,000,000 for liability, and which can be used to transport clients
  • Willing to complete Food Safe Certificate (Level 1 and Level 2)
  • Proof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirements.

 

COMPENSATION

As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $29.17 up to $33.49 per hour. Plus benefits enrollment as per the Collective Agreement. 

Important: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
