Position Details:
As a Surgical Technologist/Certified Surgical Technologist, you will be providing surgical care to patients within the operating room under the supervision of perioperative nurses and surgeons. You will utilize and follow AORN's Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices and AST Standards of Practice as a reference to ensure quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care.

The Surgical Services team is led by both the Director of Peri-operative Services and Director of Ambulatory Services, as well as three (3) Nurse Managers. There are 19 surgical suites and the top three services include, orthopedics, urology, and general surgery. We also have specialty services that include, open heart surgery, laser lead extraction, robotics for urology, gynecology, thoracic, and general.

Hours:

10 or 12 hour shift available. This is a call taking position.

Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited Certificate or Associate Degree program and Surgical Technology
  • Surgical Technology Certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) within 1 year of hire is required
  • Medical Technician registration within 3 months of hire is required
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association
  • Minimal call requirements

The employee is frequently required to bend, reach, and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb, kneel, smell, squat, and sit.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, far vision, near vision, and peripheral vision.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids. The employee is frequently exposed to airborne contaminants, moving mechanical parts, non-weather related heat or cold, radiation, electrical hazards - shock and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne pathogens, chemotherapeutic agents, slippery surfaces, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
