Position Summary
The Physician Liaison reports to the RVP of Operations. Physician Liaisons are responsible for forming, growing, monitoring, and maintaining long-term partnerships with referring physicians as well as key staff in the clinics they serve. This includes understanding the competitive landscape, demographic trends as well as medical and technology insights that will foster better patient service and partnerships. Effective Physician Liaisons will increase the number as well as the conversion rate of referrals through effective education and collaboration.
Roles and Responsibilities
Fosters and maintains long-term referral relationships through communication, training, problem solving and collaboration so that patient service and education is maximized.
Acts as a critical communication link between the external referrers and internal staff to ensure all challenges are addressed quickly and effectively.
Is proficient in all CRM and reporting tools that are essential to tracking all relevant data in the specific territory they serve.
Continually develops the medical, technical, and compliance knowledge necessary to effectively engage with healthcare professionals, vendors, and company staff.
Effectively stays abreast of all marketing efforts in the region and provides market feedback from the referring community monthly through direct feedback and reporting.
Assists in the development and presentation of specialty educational materials of mutual benefit to the referring community to address mutual patient needs.
Meets all medical referrer metrics on a weekly basis for minimum calls, arranged appointments, and response times.
Helps facilitate Continuing Education events, Open Houses, Roundtables and Symposiums for the optometrist community to further educate optometrists on service lines offered at the local practice(s).
Sets up lunches, dinners, and other opportunities for the optometrist and primary care provider community to meet with practice doctors.
Communicates opportunities to the VP of Marketing and Practices to assist in the development of strategic objectives to improve volume. Develops, implements and updates quarterly and annual sales and marketing plans to meet target objectives and goals.
Creates and maintains competitive market analysis for their territory. Competitive analysis is reviewed quarterly and annually to adjust for trends/shifts in the competitive landscape.
Must meet the referral targets and activity metrics for engaging and educating the referral community. Responsible for submitting weekly status/activity reports and prepared to present such information during weekly departmental meetings.
Maintain expenses within communicated parameters and submits all expense reports within 7 days of months end in an accurate manner with receipts.

Experience Requirements
2 years of sales experience within the healthcare industry
1 year of event planning experience
Clinical Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, social media platforms, and content management systems.
Ability to develop business plans and competitive analysis on territory preferred
Experience reviewing reports on territory and referral base required
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong relationship building skills with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required
