Position Summary

S/he is responsible for upholding the Code of Ethical Conduct and for promoting positive working relationships within the company, among all departments, and all external stakeholders. The Home Health Administrative Assistant combines organizational skills, effective communication, and attention to detail to facilitate administrative processes and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care. S/he facilitates the communication functions of the business office and provides clerical support.

Position Specific Responsibilities

• Provides clerical support which may include preparation of admission, monitoring and ordering office supplies and forms, typing, special projects, filing, and copying.
• Facilitates the communication systems which may include mail distribution, pagers, phone system, memos, answers incoming calls, documents, and disseminates appropriate messages.
• Provides computer support and data entry.
• Serves as a point of contact for patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare providers, providing information, addressing inquiries, and relaying messages to the appropriate staff.
• Maintains organized storage areas for supplies and equipment.
• Schedules and organizes meetings, conferences, and training sessions for agency staff.
• Prepares meeting materials, agendas, and minutes as required.
• Ensures the cleanliness and organization of office spaces.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one (1) year of general office support experience required.

Skills

• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
• Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Outlook. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions. Adaptations can be made to accommodate team members with disabilities. Regular standing, walking, and manual dexterity are fundamental, along with the ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Visual acuity requirements include close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
