The Position:

Pharmacy/Lab Technician- We are currently looking for an energetic, enthusiastic, and eager individual to join our rapidly growing team. We are a veterinary hospital in need of a pharmacy/lab technician to run our busy, in-house lab, and fill prescriptions for multiple doctors. Attention to detail is a must. Salary is based on experience and knowledge of the field. A quick summary of the requirements for the position can be found below.

REPORTS TO: OUTPATIENT SUPERVISOR

SUMMARY: Carries out doctor’s orders as requested pertaining to lab work and prescriptions. Reports/documents results as per policy. Maintains all laboratory equipment and logs. Orders supplies as needed.

Duties will include but may not be limited to;

  • Completes all prescriptions as written within appropriate time frames.
  • Maintains complete and up-to-date pharmaceutical inventory.
  • Completes and documents all in-house lab work as requested.
  • Assists in preparation of lab work.
  • Completes all lab work as requested.
  • Understanding the purpose of each laboratory test and how sample quality affects results.
  • Orders laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Checks and resolves “orphans” daily.
  • Aid doctors and techs in pharmacy related tasks as requested.
  • In house lab equipment maintenance/quality control.
  • Handles all incoming pharmacy calls/voicemails for requests.
  • Completes any other tasks assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Graduate of an AVMA accredited Animal Science program or animal related field is ideal. A minimum of two years of working in a pharmacy setting is required.

SKILLS: Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to troubleshoot issues when necessary. Must be patient and respectful to clients and co-workers at all times despite high stress situations. Needs excellent communication skills and to be able to follow tasks to completion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to stand for long periods and frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee may be exposed to zoonotic diseases, noxious fumes or airborne particles; however, PPE will be provided at all times. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

JOB TYPE: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
