SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Associate acts as liaison between location managers and the payroll processing department.  Performs payroll related tasks and provides support for multi-state payroll, consisting of 3500+ employees.  Ensures timely payroll processing and adherence to company policies and procedures.     The specialist maintains records in ADP’s Workforce Now payroll system, verifies payroll entries, performs calculations, and collects data for electronic storage.  Requires an understanding of tax calculations, pro-rata salaries, garnishments, and commissions.  Performs various reconciliations.  Responsible for analyzing data, creating and maintaining spreadsheets, and provides audit support.  Requires a minimum of 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, 2-4 years payroll tax experience, in-depth understanding of payroll procedures and practices, payroll laws, and payroll tax, and prior history of working with ADP’s Workforce Now platform. Excellent oral and written skills required.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to payroll policies and procedures 
  • Enforce timelines for timecard and payroll processing activities
  • Calculate pro-rata salaries, garnishments, catch ups, PTO payouts and adjustments 
  • Communicate, collect and resolve payroll matters between location managers and payroll processing team
  • Research, analyze and resolve complex payroll-related issues and discrepancies
  • Capture, record and analyze weekly payroll variances
  • Connect with location managers to obtain missing documents 
  • Obtain required approvals for supplemental payments, incentives, and bonuses
  • Verifies payroll entries and supporting documentation
  • PTO policy assignment and balance maintenance
  • Respond to inquiries from location managers and staff, processors and support center staff
  • Collect documents for electronic storage and manual filing
  • Maintain various spreadsheets
  • Review unused deductions and monitor goals
  • Resolve issues with ADP support team
  • Adhoc reporting and projects
  • Audit support
  • Reconciliations
  • Complete VOEs and agency request forms
  • Resolve tax issues and other agency inquiries
  • Attend periodic HR and Payroll meetings
  • Assist Payroll Manager with special projects

Preferred Education & Experience 

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record in payroll processing in the ADP WorkforceNow payroll system.     Required experience includes:

  • Minimum 3 years ADP’s WorkforceNow payroll experience
  • Minimum 3-5 years payroll processing experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years payroll tax experience
  • In-depth understanding of payroll procedures and practices, payroll laws, and payroll taxes
