Job Summary
The Clinical Informatics Training Specialist, Senior is responsible for planning, developing, and delivering training on clinical technology systems—primarily the Electronic Health Record (EHR), clinical applications, and medical devices—to providers, nurses, allied health staff, and support teams across the health system. This role bridges the gap between clinical workflows and technology adoption, ensuring staff are confident, compliant, and proficient in using digital tools to provide safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
Essential Functions
- Training Delivery
- Conduct classroom, small group, and 1:1 training sessions for physicians, nurses, allied health, and support staff on EHR, clinical software, and medical devices.
- Deliver onboarding Training for new hires and upgrade training for system changes or new device rollouts.
- Provide at-the-elbow support during go-lives, upgrades, and high-impact changes.
- Curriculum Development
- Collaborate with clinical educators, instructional designers, and IT to create standardized training content.
- Develop scenario-based, hands-on, and simulation-driven Training tailored to clinical workflows.
- Maintain and update training materials, user guides, eLearning modules, and quick reference job aids.
- Systems & Workflow Expertise
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for EHR functions, order sets, documentation, and device integration
- Partner with Clinical Informatics and IT to translate clinical requirements into effective training.
- Stay current with vendor releases, regulatory requirements, and best practices in healthcare technology Training.
- Change Management & Support
- Support adoption of new digital tools and process changes through communication, training, and reinforcement strategies.
- Identify barriers to adoption and escalate issues to leadership with recommended solutions.
- Act as a liaison between frontline staff, informatics, and IT teams during implementations.
- Reporting & Compliance
- Track learner participation, competency validation, and training completion in the LMS.
- Provide feedback and data to leadership on training effectiveness and technology adoption metrics.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation, HIPAA, and regulatory training requirements.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing, Nurse Informatics Preferred
- Required: 5-8 years of experience delivering training in healthcare systems or clinical Training.
Strong knowledge of clinical workflows and EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Oracle Health, Meditech, etc.).- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and common Training tools.
- Preferred: 5-8 years of experience with Vendor credentialing or certification (e.g., Credentialed Trainer, Oracle Health Certified).
- Experience with simulation-based learning or adult learning principles.
- Knowledge of project management, change management, or process improvement frameworks.
- Experience with LMS platforms for course tracking and reporting.
