About this role

Position Overview: 

The CBH Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, and assisting with month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes. This role works closely with the accounting and finance team to maintain compliance, improve processes, and provide reliable financial information for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, and select income statement accounts)
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities.
  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports for internal use.
  • Monitor transactions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review invoices to determine appropriate and accurate general ledger (GL) coding.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper financial coding and compliance.
  • Prepare, review, and reconcile invoices related to quarterly billing, grant billing, and contract-based billing.
  • Perform billing and invoice reconciliations to ensure amounts billed aligned with expenditures, contracts, and grant agreements.
  • Support process improvements and documentation of accounting procedures.

Qualifications:             

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • At least 1 year of accounting or related experience
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)
  • Experience with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Dynamic Great Plains, 360 Business Central, or similar)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Philadelphia Residency Requirement:

  • The successful candidate must be a current Philadelphia resident or become a resident within six months of hire.
