You will join the wider Tech Finance team of approximately 90 professionals, providing end-to-end financial management and business partnering support to Technology and Business Unit CIOs. Technology Finance’s mission is to influence strategic outcomes through transparent insights and passionate people. Your team contributes to this by enabling strong financial governance, delivering meaningful insights and supporting technology investment decisions.


Your team’s primary role is to:

  • Partner with Technology leadership to support effective financial management
  • Deliver insight, analysis and advice on historical and forward-looking financial performance
  • Maintain strong financial control and management reporting
  • Support decision-making for Technology initiatives and investment programs
  • Provide commercial insight to drive cost optimisation, simplification and improved business outcomes

Do work that matters

This role supports the Senior Manager by delivering high-quality financial and business partnering services across Corporate Technology. You will work closely with stakeholders to provide insight into technology spend, support expense management and contribute to improved commercial outcomes.


The role includes, but is not limited to:

  • Preparing and presenting monthly financial results and analysis for BAU and investment spend
  • Analysing performance drivers and variances to Plan, and supporting discussions with the business
  • Providing timely, relevant financial insights to support effective decision-making
  • Managing month-end processes, including journals, ledger reviews, variance analysis and submissions to Centre Finance
  • Developing clear, concise and impactful written and verbal materials to enhance cost transparency
  • Supporting driver-based planning and forecasting, including identifying cost savings and constructively challenging cost growth
  • Partnering with Finance and Technology stakeholders to influence outcomes and build trusted relationships
  • Maintaining a strong financial control environment through balance sheet review and challenge
  • Identifying and driving continuous improvement across analysis, reporting and financial control
  • Contributing positively to team culture and working in line with CommBank’s values, purpose and Code of Conduct

We’re interested in hearing from people leaders who possess

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, with experience in budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis
  • Well-developed commercial acumen, with exposure to Technology environments considered an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Proven stakeholder management experience, including influencing and constructively challenging senior leaders
  • Clear and confident communication skills, including presenting to senior management
  • Advanced capability in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in commercial finance within a large, complex organisation, ideally in Financial Services and/or Technology
  • Knowledge of financial services and technology trends impacting the industry (desirable)
  • A strong risk mindset, with the ability to identify, discuss and respond to current and emerging risks
