Job Description

Position Summary

The Extension Program Coordinator, Horticulture Volunteer and Outreach will oversee the coordination of all aspects for the Colorado Master Gardener (CMG) program and its 100+ volunteers; and the administrative assistance and volunteer coordination support for Native Plant Master (NPM) program in Jefferson County. We are seeking a passionate and skilled coordinator who has experience in managing volunteer teams, and a willingness to learn the CMG and NPM program administration, programming and outreach needs.  Primary duties include volunteer recruitment, retention, training and coordination; volunteer tracking; support for CMG and NPM activities that engage the public; ongoing recognition; documentation of program accomplishments; administrative support of CMG and NPM; and program reporting. Horticulture and Natural Resources teammates are expected to work in strong collaboration together on budgeting, program management, and systems designed to meet the needs of Jefferson County volunteers and community. This position works closely with a team of volunteers and identifies Jeffco community training needs and interests, selects programs, markets, and coordinates non-credit educational programming to youth and adult audiences using a variety of delivery methods. The individual in this position works as a member of the local county Extension team and as a local representative of Colorado State University. This individual works under the supervision of the Extension Director for Jefferson County, and under the leadership of the Horticulture and Natural Resource Specialists, both of whom work in strong collaboration with this position and programs it serves.

Conditions of Employment

Supervision

This position has no staff supervision responsibilities; however, the position oversees 100-150 volunteers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed bachelor's degree.

  • Experience in volunteer management with adult audiences or closely related field.

  • Must have a valid driver's license or the ability to obtain a driver's license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.

  • The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; Extension will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completed master's degree.

  • Knowledge or experience working with Master Gardener, Master Naturalist or Native Plant Master, or similar community education programs.
