Job DetailsJob Location: McKinney, TX 75069Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $16.35 HourlyRecovery Coach will work under supervision and as part of a team that includes LCDC’s and other workforce members as needed to assist individuals in services to move toward recovery.  The Recovery Coach’s primary purpose is to increase the prevalence and quality of long-term recovery from substance use disorders by enhancing quality of life and increased social contributions and connections through sustained engagement in long-term Recovery Support Services.  Recovery coach will serve individuals with a history of substance use disorders, including co-occurring mental health disorders who are seeking recovery, along with their family members, significant others, and supportive allies.  Recovery Coach will provide effective Recovery Support Services and support individual’s efforts to initiate and sustain their recovery.  Recovery Coach will expand the availability and quality of recovery-oriented supports and services among recovery support service organizations.  Recovery Coach will establish effective linkages between recovery support organizations, substance use disorder treatment organizations, community-based organizations, and other sources of support within the Community.  Recovery Coach will share lived experience to help individuals enhance wellness, create strategies for self-empowerment, and take concrete steps toward building fulfilling, self-determined lives for themselves.   Recovery Coach will collaborate with the team to ensure that services and agency culture are trauma informed, culturally and linguistically competent, and person driven.   Hours will be flexible based on services being provided.   QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience (including licensure and certification) • Must be 18 years of age and have either 1) a High School Diploma; OR 2) a High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) issued in accordance with the law of the issuing state. • Additionally, must have at least one cumulative year of sobriety from any addiction and be working on own recovery. • Must be eligible and successfully become a Certified Peer Specialist or Recovery Support Peer Specialist within 12 months of employment. Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of the Recovery process and the ability to facilitate recovery using established standardized mental health processes. • Knowledge and skill to teach and engage in basic problem-solving strategies to support individual individuals in self-directed recovery. • Knowledge of the signs and symptoms of mental illness (i.e. auditory and visual hallucinations, aggressive talk and behavior, thoughts of self-harm or harm towards others, isolation) and the ability to assist the individual to address symptoms using strategies such as positive self-talk. • Knowledge and skill sufficient to use community resources necessary for independent living and ability to teach those skills to other individuals with severe mental illness. • Community resources may include but are not limited to social security office, Department of Family and Children services, local YMCA, Library, restaurants, individuals’ service organizations, housing providers, etc. • May accompany individuals to community resources to assist them in accessing these resources. • Knowledge of how to establish and sustain self-help (mutual support) and educational groups by soliciting input from the mental health individuals on their strengths and interests. • Knowledge, experience, and proficiency in using standard Microsoft Office programs and systems databases. • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
