Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Project Engineer - Water/Wastewater to join our growing team in Syracuse, NY! 


Water and wastewater management presents unique challenges from environmental, health and economic issues, to regulatory concerns. Our water management experts comprehend these complexities and apply their expertise in all areas of feasibility, design and master planning taking into consideration the value of water as a precious natural resource. Our qualified professionals develop creative and effective solutions for any water management project and are dedicated to ensuring that communities are provided with safe, consistent, water and wastewater distribution, collection, and treatment.


Responsibilities

  • Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments.
  • Prepare advanced engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.
  • Utilize advanced techniques, theories and practices to complete assignments.
  • Design and review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Develop and apply new and/or improved techniques, processes, etc., for designing engineering plans.
  • Analyze and interpret data, formulate and solve problems.
  • Prepare or review scopes of work and budgets, and schedule assignments.
  • Prepare proposals to provide professional services.
  • Provide direction to engineers, technicians and administrative staff.
  • Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work.
  • Represent the organization in a variety of ways as an expert on engineering assignments.
  • Work within AutoCAD Civil 3D and alongside the design team managers to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines.
  • Perform field investigations/ site visits as needed.
  • Prepare comprehensive draft proposals and change orders for review.
  • Prepare conceptual layouts in consultation with PM or client.
  • Review hydraulic calculations.
  • Review utility layouts.
  • Conduct team and select client meetings.
  • Provide technical guidance to Engineers and Senior Engineers.
  • Prepare and review pump station designs.
  • Review and respond-to contractor shop drawing submittals, RFIs, and change order requests, with assistance from PM.
  • Process contractor requests for payment, with assistance from PM.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering, or civil engineering.
  • FE preferred.
  • PE preferred.
  • 4-6+ years of experience in the civil/environmental engineering field with concentration in water/wastewater design.
  • Experience including linear (pipe line) work required.
  • Some experience with pump station design, water & wastewater treatment systems design preferred. 
  • Experience with AutoCAD & OpenRoads is desired.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Design experience with water and waste water treatment plant process and design.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Compensation: $80,600 to $99,100 per year (depending on qualifications)
